Buren; the pearl of the Betuwe

Fortified town Buren is steeped in history. Take a city walk past churches, see part of an old city wall and visit the Radiant garden, where you will find more than 600 different plants, trees and shrubs.

Oranjestad Buren and the royal family share a long history. William of Orange married Anna van Buren there in 1551. Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander are countess and count of Buren. Buren still retains much of its rich history in various museums.
