Hiking in a varied landscape

The area around the Loosdrechtse Plassen is great for hiking. Stroll through the streets of nearby towns such as Loosdrecht, Breukelen, Loenen aan de Vecht or Nieuw-Loosdrecht. The Zoddenpad is a popular hiking route (13 km) in the area and takes you through a varied landscape from the polder to the woods.

If you like hiking through beautiful nature, you should also go to the area around the Loosdrechtse Plassen. One of the best-known hiking paths in this area is the clog path Zoddenpad.

• The Zoddenpad is a route of 13 kilometers, but you can extend it to a route of 18 kilometers.
• Along the route, you will find a varied, but always typically Dutch landscape.
• Enjoy the peace and the view while you explore the beautiful countryside of Tienhoven and Westbroek.

Cycling

Explore the area by bicycle

If you are looking for a typical Dutch outing, the best option is to discover the area by bicycle.  In and around the Loosdrechtse Plassen, you will find a beautiful landscape and pleasant cycling ways. There are many routes available in the area, so you can choose your own directions. For example, you can cycle across the Hilversum heath, but also on the roads that lead between the lakes. You can also cycle to Zuylen Castle from the Maarsseveense Plassen or view the authentic windmills via the Groenedijk trail.

Cycling along water and country houses

The surroundings of the Loosdrechtse Plassen are ideal for exploring by bicycle. The smallest circle around the lake is about 25 km. Large parts of the route will let you cycle along the lakes and beautiful canals with their many bridges. But you can also enjoy the gigantic mansions along the route. You will also encounter some castles on this route, such as Sypesteyn Castle and the Nyenrode Business University, which is housed in a castle.
